“A self-defined Saudi hacker claimed he had published details of 400,000 Israeli-owned credit cards online, but the card firms on Tuesday insisted that only 14,000 cards had been affected.
Details of the hack were exposed late on Monday in a statement posted on an Israeli sports website.”

Prominent journalist Sam Lipski, whose personal details were published on the internet, is among the tens or hundreds of thousands of people whose customer information was stolen from international security-intelligence service Stratfor.”

“Hacktivist collective Anonymous has announced a new campaign for the holiday season: to steal from the rich.

Dubbed “DestructiveSec,” the collective said it will steal virtual credit cards from banks and give “back to the people who had everything taken,” according to a statement posted on text-sharing site Pastebin on Dec. 12. The statement did not name any targets or provide any details.”

“For thousands of customers of Subway restaurants around the US over the past few years, paying for their $5 footlong sub was a ticket to having their credit card data stolen. In a scheme dating back at least to 2008, a band of Romanian hackers is alleged to have stolen payment card data from the point-of-sale (POS) systems of hundreds of small businesses, including more than 150 Subway restaurant franchises and at least 50 other small retailers. And those retailers made it possible by practically leaving their cash drawers open to the Internet, letting the hackers ring up over $3 million in fraudulent charges.”

“Cybercrime drains one trillion US dollars from global economy annually, NATO Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Emerging Security Challenges Jamie Shea declared on Tuesday.

We have almost every week an incident that reminds us that cyber security is related to almost every aspect of our life, Shea said in a joint press statement delivered together with head of the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI) George Maior. One trillion dollars disappear annually from the global economy because of cybercrime. Industrial secrets, copyright, intellectual property, state secrets become increasingly difficult to protect. Economies are running on these complex systems, which can be easily destroyed, Shea continued.”

“Dutch ISP A2B Internet has filed a complaint with the police after it claimed to have been “blackmailed” by London-based anti-spam outfit Spamhaus.

A2B managing director Erik Bais told Webwereld (report in Dutch) that Spamhaus “has gone too far”.”
