Hacker pulls KD 45,000

Submitted by admin on Tuesday, 24 March 2009No Comment

Police are looking for an Internet pirate who reportedly hacked the account of an unidentified Kuwaiti man and withdrew KD 45,000, reports Al-Qabas daily.
The Kuwaiti has filed a complaint with the Jahra Police Station. However, police investigations revealed the hacker used a computer from the Kuwait Institute for Scientific Research (KISR) and the theft was committed in the evening. The money has been reportedly transferred equally into the bank account of three expatriates — an Egyptian and two Pakistanis.
During interrogation with the three men, they are said to have admitted that the money was transferred into their accounts. They also said an unidentified person called them and apologized for transferring the money into their accounts by mistake.
He also reportedly paid the men KD 300 each to transfer the money into a bank account outside the country.
Police investigations are continuing. (Arab Times)
